Benefits of Chocolate consumption

Chocolate is something that few people can resist no matter what sort of chocolate it is-dark chocolate, milk chocolate, chocolate in boxes, nutty or raisin chocolate, exotic flavoured chocolate or expensive gourmet chocolate. Chocolate is something we love, and who can blame us?
Seriously! Chocolate could take over the world if it wanted-it has so much control! The effect it has on us seems to be quite profound. Research tells us that chocolate is the most commonly craved food and is considered one of the favourite foods to be consumed during emotional eating.
So what's the deal? Does chocolate contain some mystical ingredient that enslaves us upon consumption? Is it really addictive or are we simply making excuses for our distinct inability to say 'no'?
History of chocolate
Chocolate has a fascinating history, and cocoa has been used to make things that taste similar to modern chocolate for thousands of years. The ancient central American Mayan civilization though cocoa was a gift from the gods and they used it for ceremonies and even as currency. The Mayan word "cocao" actually translates to "god food",which transformed into 'food for the gods'in Latin, and was apparently mispelled to form the modern word "Cocoa" that we know today.

🍫 Surprise! Chocolate makes you happy
People in general crave chocolate because it tastes good, it smells good, and it feels awesome when it melts in our mouths.
The experience of eating chocolate is what makes you happy. Eating chocolate actually releases dopamine, a feel-good neurotransmitter, into particular regions of the brain: the frontal lobe, hippocampus and hypothalamus.
Dopamine is released any time you experience something that gives you joy - such as eating chocolate. What triggers dopamine to release is partially determined by genetics, but also can be conditioned based on specific preferences and life experiences.
Some scientists originally thought that chocolate actually had some of the compounds that activate the dopamine system directly (like drugs such as cocaine or cigarettes), but a study showed that just ingesting the chemicals of chocolate was not enough to curb cravings - the experience of eating chocolate was necessary as well.

🍫 Improves brain function
This is the best fascinating fact about chocolate, because of its potential to help older people have a better quality of life. A recent scientific study has shown that chemicals called flavanols in chocolate may be able to help with brain function, and even help to improve the effects of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Cocoa was given to elderly people with mild cognitive impairment, and it significantly improved cognition, including memory.

🍫 Health benefits
Most people think that chocolate is not very healthy, and this is partially true. Chocolate contains plenty of calories and sugar and fat from butter and milk, and like many other foods that we like, if we eat too much of it can make us fat and unhealthy. However, chocolate is also proven to be good for us too if we are sensible. Chocolate includes flavanol (which help to reduce cholesterol and support healthy blood flow) and other natural anti-oxidants which help boost our immunity and slow down ageing.

🍫 Chocolate is a stress reliever
Because dopamine is released into your brain when you eat chocolate, it can actually lower your levels of stress. This is why people often crave chocolate in stressful situations, or crave it when they are in need of comfort or reassurance. Clearly, emotions play some part in the cravings that you have. Just like people crave soup when they're sick.

🍫 Chocolate beautifies you
Chocolate contains ingredients that help us to look younger and better. It contains many different vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, zinc, and vitamin B which have anti-aging effects, and also includes calcium and sulphur which are great for healthy hair, nails and good-looking skin.

🍫 Magnesium deficiencies
Chocolate actually contains some amounts of magnesium, a micro nutrient that a lot of people, women in particular, happen to be deficient in. Chocolate is not the top magnesium-rich food, but it is the only one in the list of top ten foods that is known for its ability to produce dopamine in the brain.
Other foods, such as leafy greens, figs, avocados, and nuts have more magnesium, but chocolate is actually pretty high in the nutrient, with about 176 mg in a 100 g serving. This is data for dark chocolate though (above 60% cocoa), and dark chocolate is typically considered the healthier type of chocolate due to its lower amount of sugar per serving.
Experts say that about 80% of women are deficient in magnesium, and eating dark chocolate is actually a great, tasty way to up your magnesium levels. Chocolate should not be the main way that you increase your magnesium, but it will definitely curb those cravings.

🍫 Chocoholics
Almost everyone likes chocolate, and some people are absolutely love it, but a chocolate collector in America proves just how much he loves chocolate. Bob brown has the largest collection of chocolate bars in the world-770 different bars in total.

Why Do We Like Chocolate?

Chocolate is good for a number of reasons:

Humans are born with innate food preferences, one of those is for sweet foods and another is for creamy textures or the “mouth feel” of fat. Sugar makes food taste good and fat makes food feel good. Chocolate satisfies both these preferences. Add this to a pleasant aroma and distinct flavour and you get a sensory experience like nothing else.

Another way humans come to prefer certain foods is through situational experiences. Our brains make the connection between foods and the situation around that food. Foods enjoyed in good circumstances are obviously more highly preferred than foods experienced during negative circumstances. More often than not, when you first started eating chocolate it was centered around an enjoyable time or memory.

With all these benefits, you can enjoy your chocolate without any guilt. Happy eating!

20 Impressive facts about happiness

Are you obsessively taking your happiness pulse? Do you even know what makes you happy anymore? I'm not talking about a happy day, happy hour, or a happily ever after hollywood ending. I'm talking about real, honest and true, long lasting happiness.
Happiness is an emotional state characterized by feelings of joy, satisfaction, contentment, and fulfillment. While happiness has many different definitions,it is often described as involving positive emotions and life satisfaction.
In general, happiness is understood as the positive emotions we have in regards to the pleasurable activities we take part in through our daily lives. Pleasure, comfort, gratitude, hope and inspiration, are examples of positive emotions that increase our happiness and move us to flourish. In scientific literature, happiness is referred to as hedonia, the presence of positive emotions and the absence of negative emotions.
Research in this field is booming, and new findings are coming out all the time. Here are a few of the most interesting facts and findings so far,

1. MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE.
Scientists have estimated that around 40% of personal happiness is actually under your control. All you need to do is consciously decide to have a positive attitude and it can have an enormous effect on your day-to-day mood. Although it's absolutely a fact that there are many factors that relate to happiness, its amazing how much is actually under your control.

2. HAPPINESS HAS POWER OVER YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM.
Being happy doesn't just sound like a pleasant thing. It can be a pleasant thing for our bodies, too. As if it didn't already seem like happy people have it all, they're also less likely to get sick than unhappy people. Happiness has the power to boost your immune system and has actually been shown to make you less likely to contract the common cold. Just one of about a million reasons to put a smile on your face today.

3. HAPPINESS IS CONTAGIOUS.
We are all connected, what we feel affects the people we meet. Watch what happens when you smile at someone who passes you by on the street. If you make eye contact, they will probably smile back. You just delivered positive energy into the soul of another person.

4. SMELLING FLORAL SCENTS LIKE ROSES CAN MAKE US HAPPY.
How many times has someone said you to "stop and smell the roses"? Well, that may be a good advice when it comes to happiness. Some scientists believe that the smell that flowers give off was evolutionarily intended to induce positive feelings in those who smell them. The thinking is that if the smeller is happier, they are more likely to protect the flower. So go ahead, smell those roses. Seems like a simple enough way to boost your mood, if you ask me.

5. STOP TAKING YOUR HAPPINESS PULSE.
Measuring your happiness doesn't increase it. It's like getting on the scales everyday when you're on a diet to discover that you only lost 1/8 lb, you become discouraged. Make happiness an alternative lifestyle, like your new vegan diet.

6. BEING OUTDOORS CAN MAKE YOU HAPPIER.
The world outside of your office can be such a happy place. According to a study, being outdoors makes people happier. The ideal spot for happiness is an outdoor spot near the water, when the weather is warm, according to the study.

7. CERTAIN FOODS MAKE YOU HAPPY.
When it comes down to it, your mood is a result of your brain chemistry, and eating certain foods can help affect it. Tryptophan is a chemical found in foods like nuts, cheese, soy and chicken, and it can help boost your brain's production of another chemical called serotonin, which induces calm and happy feelings.

8. HAPPY PEOPLE ENJOY DEEP CONVERSATIONS.

After the experiment, the music group's mood was higher than the non-music group's.

10. RELATIONSHIPS ARE MUCH MORE CONDUCTIVE TO HAPPY LIFE THAN MONEY.
Sometimes I wonder if money can really buy happiness after all. It seems relationships outshine money, though, according to science. If you're in the pursuit of happiness, make sure that you don't leave the people in your life behind as you try to get better and better pay. Your relationships with people have a much stronger effect on your happiness than the money in your pocket, and not spending enough time with friends and family is one of the top five deathbed regrets.

11. BRIGHT COLORS CAN BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY.
According to a study, bright colors go hand in hand with happiness. This is especially true of yellow, the study found, as happier people favor that color. Oppositely, gray was most closely associated with anxiety and depression in the study.

12. RAINY DAY BLUES.
The weather outside can have a strong effect on your emotional well being. 13. HAPPY ARE THOSE ON HOURLY WAGES.
Yet another interesting fact- According to a study those who are paid by the hour at their job versus making a set salary report being happier. Why? The researchers theorize this could be because employees are able to better focus on the worth of their time in each paycheck, thus promoting happiness. (however, these findings are limited, so take them with a grain of salt!)

14. IT'S ABOUT WHAT'S INSIDE, NOT WHAT'S OUTSIDE.
We like to think that we'd be happy if we just had that car, or that house, or what have you, but it seems as though that's not the case. External circumstances like material goods, actually have a relatively small effect on overall happiness compared to internal factors like genetics and attitude.

15. DOING GOOD FOR OTHERS MEANS, DOING GOOD FOR YOURSELF.
When it comes to happiness, by making others happy, we can make ourselves happy, too. According to a study, performing good deeds is one of the fastest ways to get some happiness into our own lives. The outlet noted multiple studies have shown people who donate to charities, for instance will feel happier, thanks to a trigger of feelings of reward. The studies go on to find the brain is then also encouraged to do more good things.

16. THE GOOD OLD DAYS.

17. HAPPINESS IS A LIFE LONG PURSUIT.
Awards, achievements, and celebrations are temporary happy moments. 'Happily ever after' is hard work that never ends. Live each day as happy as you can. A day lost in misery is gone forever.

18. THINKING ON YOUR FEET.

"They are more likely to have fulfilling marriages and relationships, high incomes, superior work performance, community involvement, robust health and even a long life."

Feeling stressed after a long day of work? Treat yourself to a bubble bath. Feeling blue? Treat yourself to a decadent dessert. Feeling frustrated after an argument with a friend? Skip your workout and have an extra scoop of ice cream.
The message is clear: If you want to feel happy, you should focus on your own wishes and desires. Yet this is not the advice that many people grew up hearing.

Happiness is simple: Start dancing, get a pet, chat deeply, and smile; you’ll live longer.

Extroverts are often more outspoken, outgoing and absolutely love being around other people. That's what really fills them up. Truly understanding each personality type and which one you are can help you manage a vast range of experiences.

Here are some common personality traits associated with INTROVERSION

1. Alone time is the best time
The idea of being home alone is thrilling, not taxing. Those periods of solitude are crucial to an introvert's health and happiness. Whether you're simply spending time resting or engaging in an activity, solitude is a welcome relief. Introverts often enjoy reading, gardening, crafting, writing, gaming, watching movies, or doing any other activity that's performed alone.

2.Introverts are in touch with feelings
Introverts are masters of their emotions. They reflect until they are able to understand the triggers that are responsible for their negative thoughts. This retrospection helps them dig deep enough to deal with entrenched self defeating beliefs that limit their potential.

3.They are introspective and curious
They may find themselves daydreaming or working things out in their mind long before they put a plan of action in place or lift a single finger to change anything. Introverts have a very active inner thought process. That also leads them towards self-reflection and research. They are dedicated to pursuing their interests and feeling prepared and well-read.

4.Introverts are good listeners
Introverts listen before they speak. They watch from the sidelines and take some mental notes before they insert themselves into any social situations. This preparation allows them to enter a conversation confidently without stumbling over their words or doubting the accuracy of what they say.

5.They're accused of zoning out a lot
Introverts often "escape" from a situation by zoning out or letting their mind wander away from the task at hand. For them this may be a way to leave a situation that feels too chaotic or uncomfortable; it's a survival mechanism of sorts. But to others, it may seem like they're unfocused.

6.Introverts are trustworthy people
Introverts can keep secrets. They know how hard it can be to trust somebody, so they won't share a personal detail, if you don't want them to. This is exactly why introverts are excellent best friends.

7.They take a handful of true, close friends over a bunch of acquaintances any day
There's certainly nothing wrong with it, but few introverts prefer such large social circles. Instead, introverts truly value the meaning of fewer close friendships; they don't like to juggle emotions. And they might not have time to build up trust with dozens of acquaintances. Now, that doesn't mean that an acquaintance couldn't potentially become a close friend. But many introverts like to move at slower paces.

8.Introverts are good at studying
Introverts believe knowledge is power. They are intensely interested in the things that they care about and want to learn everything they can. This eagerness helps them become experts in their field.

9.It's not uncommon for people to underestimate introverts
They might not be the first to step up during pitch meetings, but that doesn't mean they don't have great ideas. It can be quite the internal struggle for an introvert to step forward and recieve credit for their hard work all while avoiding the spotlight. This can cause co-workers and some bosses to underestimate them, but don't be fooled. They celebrate their victories internally.

10.Introverts are very observant
Introverts identify changes in their environment very quickly. They will probably be the first person to notice a new haircut. This often causes their friends and co-workers to thank them for being so thoughtful.

11.They love getting lost in a good book
When introverts aren't entertaining themselves, they love to get lost in an exceptionally good book. It does not matter if the book is thriller, a non fiction or an autobiography, they simply love to immerse themselves in another world. Not to mention, novel-reading gives them more alone time. And very few introverts pass up that.

12.Introverts are super focused
Introverts concentrate with everything they've got. They make a point of paying attention to non-verbal cues that might reveal hidden meanings, because they know words are only half of the story. This ability helps them avoid potential misunderstandings.

13.They are self sufficient
Introverts are not dependent people. They believe it is foolish to depend on another person to take care of their material needs. This freedom makes them feel empowered, because they know they can manage any curve ball that life might throw at them.

14.Introverts are thought-provoking when you get them talking
introverts have interesting things to say. They might not be fans of small talk, but that doesn't mean they can't be engaging in a deep discussion. This distinction is a common source of confusion. Introverts are often considered to be "quiet",but that's not because they don't like to talk about trivial things. Introverts are passionate people who want to make the most of their days, so they'd rather not waste their time with a shallow conversation. If you want to find out how fascinating an introvert can be, simply ask them an intelligent question about a topic that they care about.

15.They "feel" more
One study shows that introverts are more likely to be diagnosed with depression. This could be, another study suggests, because introverts don't feel happy as often as extroverts. It's unclear why introverts don't report higher happiness levels, but it may have a lot to do with how introverts identify happiness. Introverts prefer a higher quality of friendships and emotional regulations. It may be difficult to achieve this high level of satisfaction constantly.

Do you think that you might have EXTROVERSION personality traits? check out the list

1.They're inspired to socialize
They tend to feel "charged up" and inspired after they've spent time with other people. Extrovert tend to find such social interactions refreshing and they actually gain energy from such exchanges.
When extroverts have to spend a lot of time alone, they often begin to feel uninspired and listless. If given a chance between spending time alone and spending time with other people,an extrovert will almost always choose to spend time with a group.

2.Extroverts are outgoing and optimistic
They are often described as happy, positive, cheerful, and sociable. They aren't as likely to dwell on problems or ponder difficulties. While they experience difficulties and troubles like anyone else, extroverts are often more able to let it roll off their backs.

3.They prefer to talk out problems or questions
When they are facing a problem, they prefer to discuss the issues and various options with others. Talking about it, helps them explore the issues in-depth and figure out which option might work the best. After a difficult day at work or school, talking about it with friends or family can help them feel less stressed out.

4.They have a lot of friends and acquaintances
Extroverts make new friends easily. This is in part, because they enjoy other people's energy and getting to engage with people around them. They also tend to have a large social network and many acquaintances. With pursuing new interests and activities, extroverts are often keen to expand their social circles.

5.They love to talk it out
Just as introverts are known for being on the quiet side, extroverts are known for being talkative.Instead of processing thoughts and emotions internally, extroverts like to use talking to sort out their ideas.
That doesn't mean they have a constant external monologue of emotions, but they prefer to talk things out with others.Whether it's a disagreement,a project at work, or a netflix series they are obsessed with, extroverts will seek conversation to work out all the details.

6.They are very open
While introverts are sometimes perceived as closed off and aloof, extroverts are typically very open willing to share their thoughts and feelings. Because of this other people generally find that extroverts are easier to get to know.

7.They are flexible
Extroverts are often adaptable to any situation and innovative when problems arise. While they may be organized, not all extroverts need a plan of action before they can begin a project, plan a vacation, or undertake any task. Spontaneous decision may be welcomed.

8.Extroverts like to take the lead
In addition to being socially active and outgoing, extroverts often enjoy leadership roles. Whether they're the friend who sends out cute email invitations for bunch every week or the CEO of a company,an extrovert probably likes the attention and action that leadership brings.

9.They aren't afraid of risk
Extroverts may engage in risky behavior. Some theories assert that their brain is wired to reward them for it,if it goes well. One study found that extroverts who take risks and succeed are rewarded with dopamine, a chemical that triggers the reward center of the brain. In the case of the study, participants gambled, but the response could be true for any number of activities. Extroverts may be more willing to take risks, because the benefit is a surge of chemicals that stimulate the brain.

10.Extrovert like to look on the bright side of the life
The best news about being an extrovert? They're usually more optimistic and less inclined to have anxiety and they're often happier.

INTROVERSION/EXTROVERSION IS A SPECTRUM
Most people are not purely introverted or purely extroverted. They fall somewhere in the middle with characteristics of both. Also, people can change personalities over the course of lifetime. You may be more introverted as a child, but find that you're more extroverted as an adult. Fluctuations in the personality spectrum are normal. Some characteristics may be stronger, which is why people may self identify as an introvert or extrovert.
Your genes may play a significant role in determining where you will fall on the personality continuum.Research shows that people who are extroverted respond differently to dopamine, a chemical in the reward circuitry of your brain. Extroverts get a jolt of satisfaction or energy from social interactions, because of the chemical.Introverts feel overstimulated.
Your life experiences can significantly affect your personality, too. It's possible to change or slide slightly on the spectrum throughout your life. You may learn to interact with others differently and reap rewards differently as an adult.

There is no need to change or alter your personality. No matter what, your personality is a wonderful part of who you are.

Mind blowing facts about LOVE

When you think about love, you probably picture a couple holding hands or driving off into the sunset together. Falling in love is exciting, colors seem brighter, obstacles seem to vanish. The whole world is a more beautiful place, because of our newfound lover. Although this may seem true at the moment, some of those strong feelings are occuring due to chemicals released in the brain. Although the science behind love isn't extremely romantic,it is quite fascinating to realize the complexity of our bodies.
Love hold so much space not only in our lives, but in our psychology,in our biology and in our history. The psychological side of love is an amazing, mind-bending roller coaster of emotions, behaviors and biological processes. Love is something we all experience, but it is not something we fully understand. These meaningful psychology facts about love will blow your mind and may be even find it in your own life.

EYE CONTACT IS A KEY
Studies have shown that couples who are in love are so bonded that after 3 minutes of looking into each others eyes, their heart rates will synch up with each other.

BUTTERFLIES ARE REAL, STRESS RELATED THING
The expression of having butterflies in your stomach is a real feeling that is caused by an adrenaline rush. When and if you fall for someone, it will probably be hard to avoid the feeling of butterflies dancing and fluttering around in your stomach. This happens as a body's response to a fight or flight situation. The next time you feel this adrenaline rush on seeing someone, know that love is in the air.

CUDDLING TRIGGERS THE SAME AMOUNT OF NEUROLOGICAL REACTIONS AS PAINKILLERS
Oxytocin, the so-called love or cuddle hormone is produced during an embrace or cuddle. Oxytocin appears in a person's brain, and their ovaries and testicles are also involved in this bonding process. Oxytocin helps to decrease headaches and can help pain go away for up to 4 hours. So if you are feeling tired, stressed or in pain - cuddling is a great alternative to any painkillers.

"BROKEN HEART" IS JUST NOT AN EXPRESSION, ITS AN ACTUAL MEDICAL CONDITION
Research has shown that intense or traumatic events, such as break ups, divorce, physical distance or the loss of a loved one can contribute to real physical pain in a person's heart. This is an actual condition known as the broken heart syndrome. It occurs when deep emotional triggers cause distress in the brain and significantly weaken a person's heart causing such symptoms as chest pain or shortness of breath. This tends to affect women more than men, and can easily be misdiagnosed
as a heart attack.

LOVE IS BLIND
It does not seem to matter what others say to a new lover. He/she is always perfect in our eyes. This blindness is critical for us to move forward in our relationship and is usually required to move onto the "attachment stage" as scientists call it so that they can stay in love long enough to have and raise children; in other words to populate the earth.

YOUR BODY HAS 'VEIN OF LOVE'
The fourth finger of the left hand has the vena amoris, the 'vein of love'  which is believed to be connected directly to the heart. This is the reason why we put the engagement ring on the fourth finger of left hand.

BEING IN LOVE IS IDENTICAL TO BEING HOOKED IN COCAINE
Both falling in love and taking a dose of cocaine will give your brain similar feelings and sensations of euphoria. Falling in love produces several euphoria - inducing chemicals in your body, will stimulate about 12 areas of an individual's brain.

LOVE WORKS FAST
It takes only 2-4 minutes to fall for someone or to make good impression on someone. It has little to do with what you say and more to do with how you say. Your body language, tone and pace take front seat here, not words.

YOUR NERVE CELLS WORK BETTER DURING THE FIRST YEAR OF LOVE
A protein in our bodies called nerve growth factor (NGF) that is important for the functions of certain sympathetic and sensory nerve cells seems to thrive during the first year of being in love. Basically our senses are heightened and our fight or flight response system is more active during young love.

LOVE IS HEALING
Research shows that long term couples with deep, strong connections can successfully soothe each other in stressful situations or when one of them experiences pain, simply by holding hands.

INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE IN LOVE HAVE CHEMICAL SIMILARITIES IN LINE WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER (OCD)
Research has shown that couples who are in an early stage of love possess lower levels of serotonin, which is associated with happiness and well-being,and higher levels of cortisol, which is associated with stress. These levels are very similar to people who suffer from OCD. This can explain why we feel, act,or present ourselves in ways out of character when we fall in love with someone.

IF YOU LOOK INTO A STRANGER'S EYES,YOU CAN ACTUALLY FALL IN LOVE
It is because our body produces a chemical, phenyl ethylamine, which is also related to the body's fight or flight response. Too much staring means you're ready to fight and in essence, also ready to fall in love.

JUST BY LOOKING AT THE PICTURE OF YOUR BELOVED ONE,YOU CAN FEEL SENSE OF RELIEF
It has the same effect as the presence of someone.

OPPOSITES DON'T ATTRACT
Individuals who appear similar and at the same level of attractiveness are more likely to end up together than people who look significantly different. Many social researchers indicate that there is a pattern in how people chose their mates or romantic relationships. This is demonstrated through a matching hypothesis, which indicates that people are more attracted to others who share a similar attraction level with them.

WOMEN LIKE TESTOSTERONE
Testosterone creates desire as well as aggressive behavior, which may push you to pursue the person who is creating this desire. Women around world are more likely to fall in love with partners with ambition, education, wealth, respect, status, a sense of humor, and who are taller than they are. Women also prefer distinctive cheekbones and a strong jawbone which are linked to testosterone levels.

SOME PEOPLE CAN'T FEEL LOVE
Some individuals who claim never to have felt romantic love suffer from hypopituitarism, a rare disease that doesn't allow a person to feel the rupture of love.

The expression "keep your loved ones close" can have an even greater meaning,as one of the greatest predictors of love is proximity or physical closeness. Being close to another individual can contribute to increased emotion and feelings of want and desire.

You really love him/her right?  Did I mention a name? No I didn't. But still, you thought of that person. It's a typical psychological reaction.
